Lion's Head · Tobermory · Miller Lake · Bruce County
The far end of the Peninsula: bedrock at the surface, seasonal cottages, and a long drive from anywhere.
The northern Peninsula is the most demanding septic ground in Grey-Bruce. Bedrock is often at or near the surface, soils are thin, and cottages and rentals cluster around Lion's Head, Miller Lake, and Tobermory. Standard in-ground beds are frequently ruled out, so raised beds, advanced-treatment systems, and holding tanks are the norm.
Distance is part of the job. It is a long drive from Owen Sound, so travel can affect pricing and scheduling, and it is worth planning pumping and inspections for a single trip. Seasonal use is heavy, with openings in spring and closings in fall.
Buying a cottage up here? A septic inspection is one of the most important things you can do, and holding-tank pumping is a regular cost to plan for. See also Sauble Beach & Wiarton. Call (548) 918-5572 and ask about travel.
